As salaried employees, you re entitled to pension rights according to the law.
Usually, these rights are outlined in the employment contract at the beginning of the employment. Many people are lazy or afraid to check and ensure that they receive their rights, and wait until the end of their employment (resignation, termination, or retirement) to verify them.
Firstly, it is worth considering that there is a statute of limitations after 7 years, so those who wait for the end of the employment beyond 7 years may lose valuable financial rights.
Things to ensure you receive at the end of your employment:
Form 161 + Termination Letter (release letter for compensation) - a form required by the tax authorities to obtain an exemption from tax on the compensation money. From July 2023, the form-filling process will change significantly. It is advisable to seek the assistance of a professional to ensure that you receive full tax exemption per your request.
*By law, the employer is required to provide Form 161 within 15 days, or it is considered a delay in compensation, and they may be at risk of a high compensation claim from the employee.
Pension contributions and severance pay fund - it is advisable to verify with a professional and check with the pension or insurance company that all contributions have been made in accordance with the law. You can check this via a "Replenishment Report" (דוח היזון חוזר).
Vacation days, sick days, rehabilitation benefits, and more - for individuals who have been employed for at least a year (or more), it is advisable to consult with a labor lawyer to ensure that they have received all the rights they were entitled to.
