Client recommendation :
I want to publicly acknowledge the gracious assistance of Moshe Pergamenikov and the claims team at Tmura insurance agency in helping me fight my insurance company for a very large and long overdue payout.
***
Back-story: Four years ago, I underwent an acute crisis in my personal life that left me permanently disabled. I had to leave my secure, well-paid job and file a disability claim with my pension company (PSA - guys, if you have an Israeli pension fund, it's virtually guaranteed that you have disability coverage with them; don't be afraid to go after it!).
The insurance company approved my claim, but decided to try and take advantage of some small irregularities in my coverage from just under five years prior to the incident, figuring they might be able to get away with massively underpaying me, if I didn't get around to examining it more closely and decide to fight back. (I could be gracious and call it a "mistake" but I very much suspect otherwise...). At that time, under the circumstances, I did indeed give up easily. I didn't have the strength...
Fast forward to 2024, when I reached out to Moshe Pergamenikov upon recommendations from this group, hoping he could help me optimize and save money on my insurance portfolio. Which, incidentally, he did.
I also told him about my grievances with the pension company, who had recently given me a hard time and tried to reduce my disability payments even further. Yeah. I suspect all the big ones would have been equally greedy and nasty, so I won't publicly name and shame...
Moshe encouraged me to dig deeper and go after the full amount I've been legally entitled to all along. But he didn't stop there.
He also phoned an old acquaintance at the agency that had always handled my pension, Tmura, and called in a favor on my behalf. And then he checked in on me continuously to make sure I didn't give up. And there were times when I wanted to, when I felt I didn't have the strength to deal with it anymore. He told me I could just hand the whole messy business over to a lawyer, but encouraged me to wait for Tmura to do their best, and perhaps I'd be able to save myself the significant legal fees, not to mention the unpleasantness of what could become a prolonged battle in court.
Earlier this month, I got a call from the senior agent at Tmura who'd been handling my claim, "K", and who laughingly began the call by saying, "Hi, this is "K" from Mifal HaPayis (the folks who operate the Israeli lotto)...".
She informed me that the insurance company had finally exhausted all their counterarguments, and conceded that they owed me the full amount. Guys, the back pay I was owed totalled some 300k shekels (before tax). And I have already been approved for disability for the next 18 months, during which time I will now be receiving nearly double what the company had previously agreed to pay out. After which, I will presumably file to extend my claim, because sadly I still don't see myself being able to go back to work in the foreseeable future...
We're talking a net gain that is, quite frankly, life-altering. Moreover, there's no need for me to share 20% + VAT with a lawyer, because the claims agents at Tmura fought my battle for me. (Guys, your insurance agent is your super-power. Choose them wisely!)
Granted, that's their job. Still, they could have come back to me at any point and said the insurance company denied my request for X (dubious) reasons, leaving me to continue the battle on my own. They could have been less proactive, and let this drag out much longer. But they didn't. They saw me as I am, one overwhelmed human being fighting a monolithic insurance company and their team of lawyers for money that I absolutely deserved. And they wanted to help.
PS: I bought them a giant Thank You bouquet. "K" was so moved, she cried... Guys, always say thank you.
And to Moshe, who oddly enough insisted he didn't want a bouquet I dedicate this post. Moshe, thanks again for your time and support. There was nothing "in it for you", you just wanted to help. May G-d bless you.
